The Woodbury family was making the thanksgiving feast. They invited all the people to the Silver Valley town. All the people in the Silver Valley town love their thanksgiving feast. It consisted of roasted turkey, mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, stuffing, squash, and pumpkin pie. There was a knock at the door. Hannah, the daughter of the Woodbury family, went over to see who was at the door. She opened the door and there was a girl who was starving, and her clothes were dirty.

“Hey, I heard that you are the Woodbury family hosting the Thanksgiving feast. I am Veronica and I was wondering if I can go inside to get some food.”

“Umm no, what would the people think if we invited you over?” said Hannah

“Please honey, I am starving.” said Veronica.

“Well then you should have gotten a job, then. That would help you!” said Hannah.

Hannah slammed the door. Her mother, Mrs. Woodbury, asked who it was.

“Oh mom, it was a poor woman begging us to serve her food,” said Hannah.

Mrs. Woodbury was watching from the window and the poor woman, Veronica, was her half older sister.

(Flashback to Mrs. Woodbury and Veronica’s past)

Veronica was 23 years older than Rose Woodbury, her half-sister. Veronica hated Rose and resented her for breaking up her parents’ marriage. Her parents were high school sweethearts. They had been married for 26 years. She did not like her stepmother who was 10 years older than her. She was close to her mom and stopped contact with her dad when Rose was born. Veronica had already graduated college and had her own house and a job that she loved and made the most money.

Rose never knew her sister Veronica. She always wondered about her dad and his older daughter. Her dad told Rose about Veronica and she wanted to meet her. Her dad took Rose and her younger brother Jake to meet Veronica. At the time Rose was 10 and Jacob was 4 and Veronica was 33. Veronica was angry that her father just showed up without telling her. But her anger did not last long, and she loved her half little brother. When she saw Rose, she did not talk to her or bond with her. Veronica moved out from Silver Valley and cut all contact with her father and stepmother. She was nowhere to be found.

Rose never understood why Veronica hated her so much. Nonetheless she moved on in life. She graduated high school and married her high school sweetheart Jason, Mr. Woodbury, and had her daughter Hannah and twin sons, Mark, and Mike.

Mrs. Woodbury decided to let her older sister Veronica come to the Thanksgiving feast. She felt sorry for Veronica, and she was all alone and in her 70s.

“Thank you, Rose. I appreciate it,” said Veronica.

“You’re welcome! There is still plenty of food left. Come eat,” said Rose.

Veronica ate a lot of food and was full. She thanked Rose again and told her sorry for the way she acted for the past 50 years and wanted to get to know each other.

Rose forgave Veronica and let her know about her niece and nephews.

Veronica became close to the Woodbury family, and she was grateful that they took her in.
